It may seem cliche' but I want each of our members to know that I am thankful for you. Whether you've been someone just interested in knowing more about what we do or have signed up for our newsletters (blogs) or are a participating member that takes advantage of one of the true local sources for pastured organically fed poultry, We appreciate EACH of you and give thanks to God for you.
I am especially thankful to have been a part of the Columbus and Saluda Farmers Markets this year. I've gotten to know some of the tried and true members of the communities to which they have served for several years. I've gotten to see the hard work of many vendors that put their hearts into their products and a faithful few in the community show up each week to purchase products which provides an encouraging motive to continue living their dream of entrepreneurial stewardship. It takes a community of like minded providers and consumers to support a local infrastructure and our area does very well at both.
As I was driving yesterday, I had the thought of how infatuatedly dependent our culture has become with Amazon, and the like. How more and more purchases happen online and how storefronts start to resemble the ghost towns of the old west. You may think that's a bit of an extreme analogy, but as I see it, it's where much of our culture is headed. I say this because I thought "What if the power grid goes out for an extended period"? What if a crazed cyber attacker comes up with a virus to shut down Amazon? There won't even be products in local stores to plunder. Although it may seem far fetched, there is a possibility it could happen.
But then there are you all who choose to know your farmer, your local medicinal herb and tincture provider, your local bakers, potters and carvers and so on. It is you that makes our dreams come true and keeps them alive. The dream of remaining in the simpler of times, satisfied with the reduced dependence on the machine. For that I say THANK YOU!

We still have a few small turkeys left. 7-9lb. range
We will be taking a break over the New Year. We are still happy to serve as we have been and have pastured organically fed chickens available. During this break I plan on seeing what our next steps are. I look forward to communicating to our members what this time of contemplation reveals in a later blog. Until then...
May God the Father bless each of you and continue to bestow upon you blessings that exceed your wildest imagination. May He keep each of you and your loved ones in perfect peace and may His love radiate through each of you to impact this world according to His desires and glory. That we would continue to grow in loving God with all of our hearts, minds, souls, and strength. And that we continue to grow in our capacity to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Embrace Farm!
