Greener Pastures are Coming!!

Good Monday morning to you!!

This past weekend was a busy one. Things are in full stride welcoming the warmer temperatures. Our garden plots have been planted and new life is coming up! It's an exciting time in the gardens and in the pastures. We've hatched several new turkeys and meat chickens, some are in the brooder and some have graduated to the pasture. Some have graduated from a smaller pen to being introduced to the general population of our layers. Some are more receptive than others. Overall it's been successful on all fronts.

One of the things that I identify as all the moving was going on is consistent with something that a friend and I spoke about. "Patience" Now don't check out here, I know some people can consider that a curse word. Ha! There is beauty in patience. As these chicks have hatched, there's a preceding time of growth necessary to prepare them for their next leg of the race. That's the same for those who've graduated from the brooder to the pasture and so on. It's also the same for the seed, as it lay there in a dead state, when the right environment comes along, it produces conditions that enable dormant life to spring forth. Fighting through the soil to get to the light! It's amazing!

It made me think about where I am. Not my latitude and longitude coordinates, but where I am in the journey of life. We can all become discouraged at times by location, circumstances, or even relationships. Things don't always go "our way" but the silver lining is that if we believe in the sovereignty of our Creator, we know that He will work all things out for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. That's from Romans 8:28 and it speaks about the sovereignty of God and His commitment to working even our mistakes out for good IF we love Him and are called according to His purposes. So what that means to me is that as long as I am doing my part, I can have confidence that He will or is doing His.

So it is with the seed coming to life, so it is with the chick pecking and pressing through the shell, or the chicks building strength in the brooder prior to being let out to pasture. They don't know what the next step is, but they identify that they are okay and press on. I could do better about trusting in the sovereignty of God our Creator, instead of getting discouraged about the "seen" realm not being as I wish.

I hope this transparency from my heart is an encouragement to yours. To know that your Creator loves you and only desires the very best for you. To know that whatever it is that you are going through, is in preparation for what comes next, and to know that these things are happening despite what you identify with your eyes. I can't quote it because I don't recall where I read it, but it said something like, If all you see is seen with your eyes, you're missing an awful lot.

New born chicks in brooder. 4-27-24

Chicks transitioning from brooder to pasture. 4-27-24

Introducing our new layers to our current flock of layers.

We have several dozens pastured, organically fed chicken eggs available to members. Similar or superior living conditions of what you would pay $8-$10 in the grocery store, for $5/doz.!!! We don't even charge to let you see how and where they are raised, try and find a commercial operation to offer that!!

Peace and Grace to you and yours,

Gordon
