Fall has fallen upon us

I love the beauty of fall! It seems to always bring a refreshing crispness to the air, a hot cup of tea or coffee on the porch in the morning, while preparing for the day, often brings to mind the "thoughts of what can be" to the day. Why? Maybe it's just the time of year, maybe it's because it's actually cool enough to work all day, maybe it's because I get to work in the beautiful array of colors that our Creator provides through His creation. Whatever it is, I love it!

I had the privilege of speaking yesterday at Full Proof Ministries in Tryon NC. I spoke on what it means to "accept Christ as Savior" and challenged people to consider the subtly implied arrogance in the terminology that we've adopted. I argued that it is more accurate to say "Acknowledged Christ as Savior". Whether we accept it or not, Christ is Lord and King, it comes down to whether or not we truly "acknowledge" this fact.

I also spoke of the marriage analogy used in Scripture pertaining to the relationship between Christ and the Church and also the Husband and Wife. It all pertains to acknowledging the Head of the relationship and the submission to the head. I challenged the men to be a leader worthy of being submitted to.

Identifying that we have a Creator that is worthy of being submitted to is such an easy to understand notion, but the practice is so difficult that it took our Creator to send His representative out of Heaven and brought to Earth to show us how it is done. I see that this concept of "loving your neighbor as yourself" expands beyond our literal neighbor. I see that it implies that all of creation is my neighbor. All of the critters that God created support our lives. They are busy doing what they are designed to do whether we see or acknowledge it. There was a time when I did not acknowledge it... in the least! Then came a time when I began to see just how interconnected all of creation is and I want to be an active beneficial participant in it.

One thing that I see in creation is that everything works together. Whether it is a conscious effort of creations's part or not, I don't know, but I do know that it works and creates a robust and resilient model that has sustained our lives since the beginning of time. It's miraculous really! I see those same characteristics within the human body. I look to see if there is anything else on the planet that can endure the enormous amount of pollution that we as humans endure and the only thing I can come up with is the Earth. Which in my mind makes sense because Scripture says we came from it. 'Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. 'Genesis 2:7

I think about the amount of toxicity in our current food model and our consumption of such things. Many of which we don't even know what it is. If someone approached me with some substance on the street and said "Eat this", I'd say "What is it"? and if they said "I don't know", would I choose to still eat it? That's exactly what we've done with the majority of what we consume. We do this because we've been raised to believe that because it's "regulated" it's okay to consume. Is that the case? The US is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, with acclaimed medical practices yet we are one of the leaders is disease morbidity (disease leading to death). Quick research confirms this, even from a .gov site. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK154469/

Not trying to be morbid...but could it be that we've failed to identify the marriage type relationship that we are to have with creation? I mean it does provide ALL of our physical needs. Every single thing that we touch, comes from the Earth...everything. In the beginning..."God said it was good", but we (humans) are under the impression that we can make everything better and we still call God sovereign and good. Then why do we neglect the Divine design and go monkeying with literally everything?

It's time for us as a species, to get on board with what the rest of creation has practiced since the beginning of time (knowingly or not). That what God provided and how He provides it is good. Just as it is. Not to say that all modern conveniences or products go away, but let's at least be reasonable about it. We've got a choice in the matter whereas all the critters may or may not. So let's represent our species by making decisions that reflect our intelligence. To steward the resources provided to us well, not just go along with what makes dollars and not sense. I know we can do this! Not because Washington or Columbia or Raliegh says to, or because the FSIS or USDA or whatever says so, but because it makes sense. It just simply makes sense. It starts with each of us looking in the mirror and identifying what the person looking back at you can do. Do that and we can change ourselves, our homes, our communities, our towns, cities, states and nation, one decision at a time. Nothing un-beneficial can come of it.

Farm News

I made an error on the Pre-Order webform in my last post. If you are interested in whole or cutup pasture raised, organically fed, regeneratively raised chicken, please revisit the pre-order form. I received some orders via hard copy form at the last Farmers Market in Columbus and Saluda, but wanted to get our chicken to any member that wants it.

October 24th is the deadline for any cut-up requests via email, or pre-order web form.

Thank you for taking the time to read, respond, and support us. It means so much!!!

Your local "submissive" stewards,

Gordon and Elizabeth
