What's going on here???

I often think that the title, must be what the chickens are asking me and/or one another. We get fed delicious soy free organic feed twice a day, have pasture grass and bugs available all the time, we're moved twice a day to maintain the availability of those resources and stay off our manure, we have our choice between sun or shade in our predator proof home, and fresh air and water all the time. This is like an all paid vacation!! What's the catch????
Well...the catch is that one day you're going to be handled with conscious hands and are going to become an offering to sustain species higher on the food chain. That is the grim reality, but as I said, it's not something that we take lightly. We understand that this is the model we are sustained by. Whether we're taking the life of a plant or an animal, we are conscious about the process of provision and choose to participate in it. This helps our conscious and we hope it may help yours, if you experience any difficulty. Most people in our culture today pay no mind to it. We think chicken comes from Chic-filet or from Wal-Mart and Ingles. It may or may not contain bones. (I think KFC's still do)
We provide the alternative, the norm that is sold in the highly visited supermarkets and restaurants, don't get to live the lifestyle I opened with. I don't know that I should disclose the living conditions of industry standards here, but if you take the time to research what the accepted practices are by the USDA & CDC you'll find the drastic contrast that motivates us to do things differently. So much of life is made up of different scenarios that stem from the sum of the parts. Often we're satisfied with just looking at the sums, but what those sums are compromised of matter.
As we have stepped out on this journey, I have tried to find the different paths that lead to the truth in many areas of my own life. I've grown tired of the paths that are paved with convenience over the truth. I'm not here to be entertained, I'm here to participate in a model that at least resembles what our Creator designed. My hearts desire is then to be able to practice and share that model along with the products of such a lifestyle, with others.
I tell younger folks to imagine what you want your life to look like in 20 years. I mean really pray and concentrate on what you'd like it to look like. Take that big goal and then start testing your choices as to, how is this decision helping me get there? Those of us with some age and more experience may have already come to this conclusion or discipline. Some may have not. Either way, we can apply these disciplines no matter where we are in life. Maybe it's a decision as to where we want to be in 6 mos. or a year, or 1, 5 or 10 years. We've got to instill within ourselves, a posture of motivation and discipline if we're ever going to do anything different than what we've done. If we don't don't, we are settling for the lifestyle of factory farming exemplified by Cargill, Tyson, Perdue, and the likes. The parts of the sum do matter. Although those names mentioned apply to the chicken and other meat industries, you can put whatever party's name you want to in there and quickly identify that you want to oppose that model.
You are valued more than you can possibly know by the Creator of the universe. As we begin to try and understand that, and take a look at all the divinely designed provisions He has given (physically & spiritually) and how we, as the majority, have chosen to steward them, it motivates me to want truth more than convenience. To desire integrity more than compromise. Not as something that I'm trying to sell, but something I'm embracing, to practice and to offer products for those that are seeking creation conscious, earth stewarding, Creator honoring products. We do what we can, where we can and appreciate those on this journey with us. That is interdependence at it's finest. Not one of us can do it all, but together we can change our world.
